Instruction & Idea Development
For this project, we need to find an infographic poster on a theme we're
interested in, redesign it, and then create a loop animation based on it. The
final design should be in A4 size. I considered several themes, including the
evolution of Eevee, the evolution of the GTR, and the evolution of cell
phones. After consultation, I decided to focus on the evolution of cell
phones.

Progression/Poster Design
Next, I moved on to the poster design. I decided to use a line to connect the
products, creating a timeline effect. I also reduced some information from the
original poster while adding my own details. To further reinforce the theme, I
included app icons related to cell phones. For typography, I chose fonts that
were commonly used in older phones, such as Nokia FC, Dot Matrix, and Chicago,
to enhance the nostalgic feel.
I started by laying out the title box, designing it to resemble a camera on a
phone screen, inspired by the iPhone series. Then, I added the information and
images of the products, ensuring enough space for readability. Finally, I
finished with some decorative touches to enhance the overall design.

After receiving feedback, I realized my initial design wasn’t solid enough, so
I decided to create a new layout. I kept the original poster as a reference
but reworked the composition. I used the original green color palette but
switched to a darker tone to give it a more high-tech feel. The background
represents a screen, with low-opacity graphics added to create a reflective
effect. For the text and images, I applied a radial composition—a typographic
system I learned in my Advanced Typography class. I felt this approach still
maintained a connection to the timeline concept. I kept the same fonts as my
previous attempt and finished the design with app icons for decoration.

Feedback :The background is a bit too strong and distracting, so I decided to lower
the opacity of the graphic.

Progression/Poster Animation
Then, I moved on to the animation phase. I decided to create an effect
resembling a phone screen waking up. Using After Effects, I experimented with
the timeline and opacity tools to bring the animation to life.

I found that simply waking up the screen felt a bit boring, so I decided to
add an animation inspired by the startup sequence when turning on a phone. The
idea came from my experience setting up my new iPhone—the animation felt like
a great introduction to the theme and was highly relevant from my perspective.

Animation First Try

I'm still looking for ways to improve, but I’ve decided to wait for the
feedback session first. Right now, I’m not sure where to make changes—though
I’m considering expanding the animation’s duration and making it smoother. I
believe there are still ways to make it more engaging, so I might seek
guidance next week.
I decided to smooth the animation and add some text animation to bring more
variation to the overall motion.

Reflection
In this project, I learned that composition is key to guiding the audience in
reading the text. References are essential for inspiration. Choosing an art
style and creating assets that fit the theme is crucial. Sometimes, making
something look simple is the hardest part because making simplicity look good
and unique is a skill.
