This lectures shows how to set up our document, and Mr. Vinod show us how to set up those guide line in this lectures video. And show us some way to digitalize our typefaces.

This task is about designing our own unique fonts, we have be ask for use 5 different to write out the letter "a,e,t,k,g,r,i,y,m,p,n" even upper or lower case. Then turn them into digital style and use Fontlab to generate the font.
1. Sketches
We have been asking for creating each font style for each 5 tools. The 5 tools I choose:
- Faber-castell Fast Gel Z 0.5
- Artline 210 Medium 0.6
- Artline Calligraphy Pen 4.0
- Faber-castell Whiteboard Marker
- Stabilo Swing Cool

After sketching out the font and the feedback section, we have been asking for choose one off them to continue with our task, we need to practice the style we choose, and choose a final sketches among them then continue to the digitalization part. I choose the no.4 sketches that done with the Faber-caster Whiteboard Marker in Figure 1.1, then I use sometimes to practice writing the text until it looks perfect for me.
2. Digitalization
After practicing writing the text, we need to digitised our writing using Adobe Illustrator. I continue this section with one line of text among the practicing.

Mr. Vinod show us some way to digitised our font. I decided to use the brush tool to trace out my text first, then continue with the adjustment to let the font be more similar with my writing.

After tracing out the text, Mr. Vinod give some advice for the following section, he said that I can use the with tools and the brush or pencil tools to do the adjustment, I use the with tools to adjust the straight lines, and I use brush tools to add some minor texture in the stroke.

After the feedback section, I decided to make a little adjustment among the letter "a, g, y, m" to let them looks more similar to the writing and make sure them following the guidelines. I do some research on the website name Google Fonts, I trying to find out the resemblance among different types of font styles.

After the research I continue with the punctuation section, we need to generate these punctuation
(. , ! #) . I use the same stroke from the text do make my punctuation to make they looks like the same. And also, I make some adjustments on the stroke.

After this week feedback section, I do some minor adjustments on the punctuation and put them into Fontlab Studio 7, and generate them out after I done with the kerning and adjustments. After it, we need to generate our fonts.

3. Poster Design
The next step after generate the font, we need to write out a sentence by using the letter
"a,e,t,k,g,r,i,y,m,p,n" using ai tools or just write it out ourself. The sentence are should not be too long or too short, then we need to use the sentence to make a poster. I decided to use Chatgpt to help write out the sentence.

I use Chatgpt to help write the sentences it gave a few sentences, but I choose the sentence "my pet tiger ran across the gym". I sketch out the poster layout idea after I get these sentences.

After sketching out the layout ideas I decided to go with the #1 layout to my poster design. But at first, I need to create some new letter because there some missing letter in my generated font. The letters I added was "s,h,c,o". After adding up these letters, I place my layout roughly in Illustrator, with an A4 size art board.

After laying out the design, I found that the composition can be improved so I make some changes on it.

Week 11
General Feedback: Some of the path connection need to be smoother, before going through the
punctuation section, refer to the link that provided first. It was hard to maintain
the stroke if it was too thin.
Week 10
General Feedback: We need to be more control to the stroke in a digitised font. It may be some
different between the stroke in a calligraphy writing, but it need to be same in a
digital font. What we need to do is transform our handwriting into a digital font
not just tracing out the writing. Google Fonts was recommended as a references
website.
Week 9
General Feedback: Make there are not too much off character in the font, the more characters we
have the bigger font size we get. The letter must following the rules that show
in the lecture videos (Typography-Text), and the letter need to place nicely.
Week 7
General Feedback: Maintain the position of the paper and the way we holding the pen in was
the same for the same style.
Reflection
Experience
I have gained valuable knowledge int he intricate process of creating a typeface family. Appreciating the tasks involved and following established rules is crucial. Iterative design has taught me the importance of continuous adjustments for quality. Learning from experienced typographers has been invaluable. Achieving a natural handwritten look using digital tools has been a significant challenge, but it's an opportunity for growth. I have learned to observe and replicate the organic nuances of handwriting. Overall, this experience deepened my understanding of typeface complexity and artistry, motivating me to refine my skills and strive for excellence.

Thorough research is essential in typeface design, starting from the
beginning. It provides valuable insights into existing fonts, their visual

saves time and effort by guiding me towards effective font design
strategies.

By exploring a divers range of typefaces, I can identify common design principles and rules that contribute to their success. Robin Williams helps me a lot to understanding how does a design
doing his works. It recommended to a beginner who wants to knows about design
and the designing works progression with example.
